12:07 Bernard Werber’s “Les Thanatonautes” is quite a read. I couldn’t stop reading. Highly recommend when you feel like getting away from daily routine. Later I will publish my favourite thoughts from the book.


15:30 Melia Las Dunas is the hotel we stayed at. It’s a five-star all inclusive hotel, but even if I’m risking being too picky for Cuba, I would rate it 7 out of 10 (for the money). Best things: beach, friendly personnel. Worst: main stream food (not too bad, but not you would expect from a five-star hotel), spa reception and reservation system. All in all, it wasn’t bad, we’ve enjoyed our stay, but I will not be coming back to this particular hotel.


17:12 In your 1 week stay at Melia Las Dunas, you are entitled to 3 dinners in that they call “a-la-carte restaurants”. From the 5 or 6 they have, we’ve picked: Parrillada-Grill Restaurant “Los Siboneyes”, Sea Food Restaurant “Los Caribes” and a Romantic Restaurant “Isabel y Fernando”.


18:45 Parrillada-Grill Restaurant “Los Siboneyes” sucked, don’t go there. Poor food, very long wait.


Sea Food Restaurant “Los Caribes” was decent, but the first lobster (langouste) we’ve tried outside the hotel was a lot better anything the hotel restaurants had to offer.
Romantic Restaurant “Isabel y Fernando” was, on the contrary, really good! Every dish was great and the Spanish wine, recommended by a sommelier (Gran Coronas, 2006. By Familia Torres) was terrific: great scent, very smooth taste and absolutely no hangover! Highly recommend.
